This morning it is windy and raining. I’ve always loved rainy days, especially when there is nowhere to go. The sounds of a storm can be relaxing, when you know you are safe. Hearing the rhythm of raindrops pelting on the roof and windows. The wind gusting every so often, and looking out of the window watching puddles start to form.

When it is raining or snowing outside, I sometimes enjoy just kickin’ back doing something that I enjoy. Of course that’s not always possible, but the times that I am able to enjoy a relaxing day inside, I try to really savor the moment! I like to light my candles, and sometimes incense, and just chill out.

Candles are something that I enjoy almost anytime. I used to be more of a “snob” when it came to candles when I was younger. I’d really only appreciate the more expensive, heavily scented candles. I do enjoy a candle with an appealing scent, but now that I’m older, I realize that it’s more about just having the relaxing glow of candlelight around that attracts me to candles.

Another thing that I enjoy is crafting. I can remember doing crafts of many different kinds with my mom when I was a child. By having these enjoyable memories, I have continued to desire to express my creativity through decorating, crafting, repurposing, writing, and creating new things.

I recently started advertising locally for handmade crocheted items. I’ve been crocheting since about age 11. I only know the basics when it comes to crocheting,  but there are so many awesome things that can be made by just knowing that one stitch technique. I make things such as washcloths, baby blankets, and throws. I currently am working on my second order in under a month! I’m praying that it all continues to go well.

Making money from doing something one enjoys is something many people strive to achieve. Not all people are so blessed to actually make a substantial income from doing something they love. My goal is to someday be able to make enough income off of doing something that I find valuable to my thoughts, beliefs, and interests. I’d like to be my own boss, and make my own rules, or break them if I so wish.

I am someone who enjoys time alone every now and then. I feel like if I have time for solitude, I can fully digest thoughts and ideas. I also can pray more freely and have time alone with God. I joined a new church a few years back, and though I love and appreciate my time alone with God, I also enjoy time worshipping with my church fam.

I could go on and on about things and people that I love, but since the title is “A Few of My Favorite Things” I’m going to end it with those few for now. Oh but wait, one more is on my mind, because it’s fastly approaching, and that is Thanksgiving!! Almost time to start preparing for one of my favorite holidays. Bring on the turkey, baby!
